NEWS END OF MARCH 2013

Dear Friends,

A paper of mine was recently presented at a missions’ conference in California. It is entitled “Resource Use as Hindrance to Sustainable Overseas Development Intervention; a view focused on Pentecostal Christianity”. Give thanks for colleagues who are ready to take their time to present mission challenges to live audiences on my behalf.

Those interested in mission in the UK may like to attend this shortly up-coming conference:

Please pray for a process I have just initiated, of applying for Kenyan citizenship. The new Kenya constitution has only very recently allowed this. I am hoping it will help in dealing with legal issues such as immigration. I will not be required to give up UK citizenship. The process could take a year or so.

I seem to have been busy reading and writing in the last few weeks. This has been interspersed with some excellent ministry opportunities. I accompanied a pastor-friend in visiting some of his more ‘shaky’ church members. We led a young man to the Lord. Today’s class in Yala was fascinating. Some of my pastor-colleagues are very keen on wearing priestly robes if only their denominations would allow it. This is a very different understanding to that of many Protestants in the UK and USA.

Please pray for an appropriate balance between taking up opportunities for pastoral ministry and my office and writing work.

Yours,

Jim
