NEWS FOR END OF MAY 2007

Success for Vulnerable Mission Strategy!

This month has seen significant increases in opportunities to minister to a particular large indigenous church group here in Kenya, which has a reputation for resisting the West and White missionaries. (I cannot give details due to sensitivity of the information concerned.) Please rejoice!

(One of the outcomes of operating as a 'vulnerable missionary', is that one can operate with people who keep their distance from other Westerners. This means that I need to be sensitive over what I share in information that very quickly gets onto the internet and can be read by anyone.)

Please give thanks, and pray that this relationship flourish. Please bear in mind - that I am not there in order to bring those people into relationship with Westerners, but with God, and to be a part of their deepening their knowledge of Christ and of God. If, when or how they want to extend their links with the West needs to be their decision and not mine. Otherwise I end up as an ambassador of the West, and not of Yhwh (God).

I have mentioned in other correspondence that vagaries of translation in a globalising world of many 'Englishes' makes it more and more difficult to report things without upsetting someone somewhere. I would love to tell stories on how this work is progressing. There are many that could be told. But, out of respect, and because they could easily be misunderstood, I cannot tell many of them.
