NEWS FOR END OF JUNE 2008

Dear Friends,

We had a brother come from Kisumu to KIST the other day, to share about the work of NGOs, a number of which he is closely involved with. He strongly advised us (drawing on Acts 6:1-4) that there should be a separation between spiritual leaders / church ministers, and those engaged in social activities via NGOs. He pointed out that resources "is where the big problem lies". For example, should an NGO project receive £700 for blankets as a part of £25,000 for an orphan project, if someone else provide the blankets, what to do with that £700 becomes very difficult. If you want to give them money back then you are told "your consumption capacity is too low", so instead the money is mis-appropriated. "We focus too much on the West to be our donors," our visitor added. In conclusion: "NGO work is corrupt - highly corrupt," he said.

Needed: people with journalistic skills, to help us to put some articles together on the Alliance for Vulnerable Mission for publication. Are there any volunteers out there who could help us?

Give thanks that we had a very successful wedding on 14th of June.

Please pray for preparations for the Alliance for Vulnerable Mission conferences due to be held early next year.

Best wishes,

Jim
