NEWS FOR MID JULY 2008

Every Monday morning I cycle within a few miles of the home of Barack Obama. It is incredible - that the president of America may be coming from the home 'parish' of Siaya Theological Centre! I have been told that Luo dictionaries now sell for over $200.00 on ebay, as Americans want to know more of the homeland and language of their president to be!

Please pray for us at KIST as we are lining up for this year's graduation ceremony on 27th July. From thereon we should be especially busy in Yala, with visitors from Tanzania, visiting students, and our new director taking office.

I was recently on the phone to the editor in chief of Mission Frontiers. This is in the USA a very widely read missions magazine (80,000 copies produced per edition). Pray for us in the Alliance for Vulnerable Mission, as we hope that an edition may be devoted to Vulnerable Mission at the end of this year.

Give thanks that we have had a successful programme of church visits every Sunday for 10 weeks with KIST students, giving them exposure to indigenous African churches. Our last visit will be this Sunday (13th July) to an indigenous church in Yala. Continue to pray for our YTC teachers, and that we find some STC teachers!
